The Village of Ghosts

I got off the bus and entered the village around 3 o'clock. It was very dark. An old man held a lantern in one hand and a knife in the other, looking at me. He spoke to me in a strange voice, "Come, come, I was waiting for you." I was frightened. I wondered if his feet were turned upside down at first. Thank god it was not.

No one was around us. Everyone had fallen asleep. The old man had brought me to the village. He seemed calm. He didn't say anything. When I tried to speak to him, he held a lantern close to my face and gave a strange look.. I was frightened by his strange face. So I turned on the radio to dispel the fear. Then that spooky song "Gumnam hai koi" started playing. I turned off the radio immediately.

Dogs started barking once we reached the entrance of the village. No one was visible in the village. Perhaps they were sleeping. As I moved, I noticed something. I feel someone is following me from behind. I quickly moved away from there.

Then I was left in a house. And after going in, I was told to sleep.

In Morning, when I was deep in sleep, That old man threw a bucket of water on me.

 "What the f**k? Are you crazy?" 

He didn't say anything and just got away. He ruined my clothes and my dream.

"Now where's the bathroom?" I asked him.

He handed over to me that empty bucket and said "Take this and go that well located in the paddy field"

"What nonsense is this?"

I went outside, and the village seemed completely different now. Sun rises with paintings of different colors in the sky , birds chirping, and strange faces of the villagers. The kids were playing cricket with small sticks. Group of women carrying sickles went into the forest for firewood. At the same time mens take cattle for grazing.

Everyone was laughing as they watched me.

" Does my face look funny to you?"

I approached an old house. It seemed to be closed for many years. I felt scared looking at it. It seemed like someone was hiding inside and calling me. 

I took our clothes, towels, and soap from home and went to the field. Many women were washing cloths at the stepwell , and some girls were  fetching water. They laughed at me as I thought they looked at me like I am an alien.

A young woman fetched water for me with a pot. She was so delighted and smiling that it seemed to me, why did I come here.

I stood on a rock.

I took out my clothes. Still they were  looking at me with amusement. "What's the problem with these people?"

I shrugged. I took off my underwear to shake and put on clothes. Just when I was about to wear them, a dog grabbed my clothes and ran away. I chased the dog behind. I couldn't catch him. I had no idea where the dog had gone. Now I don't know what to do. I looked around and my gaze fell on a tree. On it, a lady's dress was hung. I didn't have any other option. So I put on the dress. Somehow, with hiding my face I sneaked home. 

 When I entered the house from the back door, a beautiful girl stood in front of me. She wink her eyes at me. I felt embarrassed. I quickly jumped into my bedroom and changed clothes countless times.

"It was now night. After having dinner, we were sitting outside. Maybe I had a sleepless night. Before sleeping, I drank a lot of water. As a result, I woke up at 2 AM to pee. It was the month of October. However, it wasn't completely dark due to the faint glow of the moon. I walked down the lane in the light of the moon. I heard an unusual sound, similar to the sound of a koel bird. It was just because I was a bit agitated, as light was always present.

On my backside there was an old house that had been closed for many days. Something strange was centered around the door of that house. I wasn't sure what was there. Suddenly, the sound of a creaking door was heard. Knock knock knock, and a faint light appeared. The light fell on the door. A dreadful, dazzling, anxiety-filled light, with old torn clothes, a white-haired old lady, appeared. I was startled. It felt like a dream and reality had merged. I started praying. I began chanting the name of god.

Ram Ram... Ram... Ram… shev threw an eco voice  in my ear, I went completely silent and fell down. When I woke up in the morning, I found myself in the backyard of that house.

Lot of mysterious questions arise in my mind. Who was that lady? Why did she scare me? How did I get here in the backyard? Like that.
